horrible day

haha... so much for the RELAXED Monday at work! It was one of the worst days I have had in a while! I'm upset to say the least. Let's just say alot of people at work are currently "testing"  me and to be honest i'm at a point where they can just do my job if they know so much about it. I've never worked around so many 2 faced stabbing in the back people, honestly. I try to give my professional opinion regarding certain situations and they don't even listen because well they know best .Don't ask for my opinion and then turn around and talk to someone else without listening to what I have to say. Its RUDE. I would like to work in a facility that values professional information, and work collaboratively as a TEAM for the best of all residents.

Its Christmas-- happy time of year right? WRONG.I'm ready to go home. Friday around 3pm can NOT come any sooner. I just want to go home.

On a positive note. I was able to go watch my 12 ranked (in one poll) Wildcats play tonight. It helped take my mind off of this crap at work. While they have a little more work to do, it was good to get another win.

Off to bed, need to get to work early tomorrow -- so i can sort out all this crap.

Christmas plans

Christmas.... So I just found out/made the decision that I WILL be working on Christmas. YES, people do work on Holidays if you can imagine! Unfortunately/fortunately (depending on how you look at it)  I work in a business that never shuts down. Why you might ask... because  I work inside a person's home!  This isn't the first year that I have worked on Christmas, as I did this once in college while working at the hospital. Figured I could handle it a second time around.

This year is going to be different. My grandma has decided/we decided for her that she won't be able to have Christmas this year at her house. Grandma is battling cancer yet once again and really isn't well enough to cook for all 22 of the grandkids (if I can count right). I'm going to try to go down and see her and gpa sometime shortly after the first of the year.

Last night I had a Christmas Party at my house with friends and family. It was great to get everyone together again! We had a fun time eating, drinking wine and playing the Wii! With that being said... yes I did end up getting a Wii and it turned out to be a good decision! We had a blast last night playing all the different games.. such as cow racing and boxing.  I did NOT grow up with any sort of game system in the house, so this is a new experience for me. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I do like that it IS active. I kind of want to get the Wii fit or Wii active that goes along with it. -- We will see. You would think that I would have pictures to share from last night--- nope-- not a single one. I even had the camera out and everything- totally forgot.

This should be a short week for most people and even with me working it SHOULD be a more relaxed week at work-- we shall see.  Tomorrow night is the KSU men's basketball game, looking forward to going to that.

Off to bed for me! Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas! Enjoy the time together (even though sometimes those family events can get a little crazy) :)

Peanutbutter Balls! Yummy!

So I know that I promised that I would post a picture of a different room every day, but I looked around and decided that all the other rooms are kind of lacking.. and need a little picked up. Maybe another week.

Tonight I made Peanutbutter Balls... yummy!

Tomorrow is Thursday, which means its one day closer to the weekend! Work has been crazy the last few weeks and while I really do LOVE the residents I'm not sure about all the other crap that goes along with it. Its like everyone is truly in it for themselves. Frustration is what comes across me as I enter work on a daily basis. Frustrated knowing that I can only control so much, and often feel as I take 1 step forward to take 2 steps back. On a positive note, last night we had our Christmas party and TWO of my employees were able to think on their feet!!!! Oh it was such a glorious moment...early christmas to me!

Oh Christmas Tree... Oh Christmas Tree

Well, Its been a while since I have posted last and a lot has happened! But instead of boring you with my words I decided to just post a few pictures. I moved in to an apartment in Topeka in June to start my job and I don't believe I have showed everyone my new place. So this week I will post a new room each day (well maybe every other day) --- my place isn't that big!  Below you will find a picture of some of the Christmas dishes I have.... some of you know about my love for dishes! My mom was able to bring them up today. Hope everyone is enjoying this Christmas season!

Small little break

I think I'm ready for a break from the big kid world. Things just seemed to set me off today.. even the small things that normally don't. Everyone was getting on my nerves and just went into work with the wrong attitude. Maybe some time apart from me and the "job" will be good. I'm going to take off Thursday, Friday and the weekend. Thursday will be the big feast with the family, Friday shopping, and Saturday KSU basketball game.. looks as if my time off-- really in fact isn't time OFF per say... don't you HATE that!

My brother currently has my camera, so sorry no new pictures. Not sure what I would take a picture of, but I'm sure something that would strike your fancy. I should get it back on Thursday, just in time for family Thanksgiving day pictures! :)

Went to Mexican Dinner Tuesday tonight for supper... yummy! Gotta love cheep food & drinks & friends!

Thinking of Mel as she is coming upon her due date for the little one!
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Wacky Weekend

Whew.... What a weekend. I started off Friday in at work for a few hours and then headed to Wichita for a dr. apt. After the apt did a little shopping with mom and then headed back to Topeka late that night. Saturday morning I woke up early and headed to KC. At KC I met up with family and headed to Lincoln for the KSU vs Nebraska football game. Connor had been staying at Gpa's & Gma's so I got to ride up to Lincoln with him. We reviewed our colors, shapes and letters via his fun computer and flashcards! Upon entering Lincoln he was able to show us where you can get icy's and even direct us to his house (well kind of need to work on the left and right thing) :)

Football game wasn't as cold as I was expecting which was nice! It was a beautiful evening to watch football.. too bad my cats wern't able to pull it off! I love watching football, you never know what is going to happen. This year was the 3rd straight time (every-other year) I have been able to watch it in Lincoln. Football season is now over and its time to look back at how far the team came. I think overall it was a good building season for us, even though banks will be missed. Look forward to watching them in 2010!

We didn't get back home till around 3am on Sunday morning from the game. I was able to sleep in this morning and then we went to "The Blind Side" movie. AWESOME movie! I remember watching an Ole Miss game and them having a little clip on him and his family a WHILE back.

I'm now back in Topeka ready (well not really ready) to start another work week. This week SHOULD be a short one with Thanksgiving on Thursday, but I do know alot has to be done before then in order for me to be gone on Thursday and Friday. My house/life is a wreck with me having been gone alot this last month and working INSANE hours, so i'm ready for a little calmness but not sure I see it in the future.

SNOW!

This morning when I went outside I was greeted with a great surprise... SNOW! It was to see a change of seasons even though Fall is my FAVORITE season . You can't beat seeing the snow fall from the sky and I can't wait to start playing Christmas music!

Another day of work has come and gone and I'm currently working on baking some sweet potato bread for tomorrow. I am going to do a little nutrition talk on sweet potatoes tomorrow for the residents. This is my first time doing a "lesson" for them so they are looking forward to it... something new for them. Hopefully this bread turns out as I haven't ever tried this recipe before. If it turns out good I will post the recipe.

This last weekend was the ultimate WILDCAT weekend...full of Men's & Women's basketball games, Volleyball and Football games. While it didn't favor well for my football boys it was good to see family and friends. I enjoyed going to the basketball games, and can't wait to see this team progress over the season. I also can't wait till next weekend when I head to Lincoln for the game! Hopefully the wildcats will be able to pull off the win!

I'm off to do some more research on sweet potatoes... :)

Wildcats

So I thought I would do a better job of this... obviously not since it has been a week now since the last post! Last week was a not so good week at work, just seemed like I could never get out of the place and ended up staying late most of the week. The charts were/ and are still piled high on the desk. ---well enough about that.

Went to the KSU vs KU football game last Saturday and had a good time with Katie and David. It was good to spend time with my best, it had been a while. We tailgated before the game and David made some yummy breakfast burritos. Ashley came over to the tailgate before the game, and it was good to see her- even if it was only for a short time! After the game we went down to aggieville to visit So-long Saloon-- yummy! It was very busy and was wondering if the wait was worth it...thank goodness it was! Overall great day- spend time with friends, good food, watching great KSU football, and last but not least KU losing! Talked to Amy today and am already looking forward to this weekend for phase 2 only this weekend will also include basketball.

I went to get my hair cut and eyebrows waxed last week as I talked about.... I seriously have bad luck when it comes to beauty salons. The hair cut wasn't too bad, but they burnt my eyebrows, it even blistered and everything. I'm just hoping it won't leave a mark for the rest of my life!

Off to bed a little early... going to try this whole get to work early thing.

horrible no good very bad day..

Wow! What a Monday! Today wasn't a very good day, just seemed like everything I did went wrong. I don't think I even got to cross off one thing off my list.... wait -- no I did. I was able to make an apt to get my hair cut (very much needed) and also make a dr. apt.
As promised you can see the new lamp for my bedroom. Still need to get some light bulbs so I can actually use it, but until then it just sits pretty. :)
I was finally able to go to Jazercise tonight, which I enjoy. With being sick and gone, it had been a couple weeks since I had been last. Its amazing how much better you feel after you work out. I should sleep better tonight.
Came across these pictures of Katelin & Connor tonight and it made me smile. Too Cute! These are from this summer when they came to my house, asked where my toys were... and ended up finding my shoes!

Well I will leave you with this tonight. I'm going to try to make it into work early tomorrow morning, so its off to bed for me!

Life's adventures

A wise person once told me that I need to keep a journal of my life's adventures so that later on down the road I could go back and recall all the simple things in life that we often forget. Most of you know, writing is not my specialty, but I do enjoy photography, so I plan on doing a little bit of both on here as long as I can figure all this out. Bare with me as it might take a while!

Okay enough of that! This weekend was greatly needed as I was able to stay home and relax. Since my birthday (the end of September), I feel like my life was on a never ending roller coaster that wouldn't slow down! From a work trip to Georgia to getting the H1N1 flu (that set me back a week and 1/2 from work) to then being gone again to another work trip to Denver.... well you get the picture. On Saturday I went shopping for a lamp and some decorations for the house, found a few... pictures to come! (as soon as I figure that part out) Later that evening I made Taco Soup and took it over to Krista's house to watch the KSU-OU football game with the Patton's. We had a blast watching the game, eating the yummy's soup, cinnamon rolls and trying a few new drinks.
Well its off to do laundry so I have clothes for the week!
